Acceptable Use Policy

This policy sets out what can and can't be listed on BooTickets. It forms part of our Terms of Service and applies to everyone who uses the platform, in particular organisers publishing event listings. "Listing" means everything you publish about an event: its title, description, ticket names and descriptions, and any other text or images on its page.

Most events never come near anything below. Where something does, it usually just means we may take a closer look, not that the event is unwelcome.

1. Not allowed

We will not knowingly publish listings in this section, and may remove them without notice.

Illegal activity

Listings must not advertise or promote goods, services or activities that are illegal where the event takes place, including in the UK and Ireland.

Hate and harassment

Listings must not demean, threaten or incite hostility towards people because of their race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, disability, gender reassignment or age.

Misusing the platform

You must not attempt to disrupt the service, upload unlawful content, or infringe the rights of others, including their copyright, trade marks or privacy.

2. Allowed, with care

The following are allowed, but we may review a listing that includes them and ask you to explain or change something.

Adult content

Events with adult or sexual content are allowed. Say so clearly in the listing, state any age restriction, and check ages at the door.

Regulated goods

If your event sells or offers alcohol, gambling, tobacco or vaping products, firearms or medicines, you are responsible for holding any licence or permission this requires, and for following its conditions. A bar at your event is ordinary. We look more closely at listings that promote gambling, tobacco or vaping products, firearms or medicines, or that sell alcohol as a product in its own right.

Health and financial claims

Don't claim that attendees will get a specific health, medical or financial result. Describe what the event involves, not what it will do for someone.

Promises you can't control

Don't guarantee things outside your control, such as a named performer definitely appearing, a cure, or a financial return. If a line-up could change, say so.

Affiliations and endorsements

Only claim that an organisation, brand or public figure is involved in, endorses or licenses your event if they actually do and have agreed to be named. This includes BooTickets itself — see section 10 of the Terms of Service.

Payment outside the listing

Tickets for a BooTickets listing must be sold through that listing. Don't ask buyers to pay you directly or somewhere else instead. Payments made elsewhere get none of the protections of a BooTickets order, and this is a common pattern in ticket scams.

Charity and good causes

If you say proceeds go to a charity or cause, name it, give its registered charity number where it has one, and be accurate about how much goes to it.

Listings that aren't events

Listings must be for a real event. We may remove anything that reads as spam, a scam, or an advert for something else.

3. If a listing breaks this policy

We may review listings against this policy. If one breaks it, we may ask you to change it, unpublish it, or, for serious or repeated breaches, suspend or close your account under section 7 of the Terms of Service.

When a listing is published, or its text is changed while it's on sale, the text is screened automatically against this policy by a third-party AI service.

If screening flags a listing, we may hold it while we check it. A held listing isn't listed or on sale, and we'll let you know we're doing a few checks. Tickets already sold stay valid. Once we've looked, we either put the listing back on sale or return it to draft for you to change, and tell you which. You can also withdraw a held listing to draft yourself; publishing it again means it's checked again.

4. Reporting a listing

If you think a listing breaks this policy, please tell us through our contact page or at support@bootickets.com, including a link to the event.
