This Cookie Policy explains how BooTickets (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website and use our services. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies such as local storage let a site remember information between page loads. We refer to all of these as “cookies”.
How we use cookies
We use only essential cookies and local storage that are required for the platform to work. These include:
- Authentication — keeping you signed in to your organiser account and maintaining your session securely
- Security — protecting the platform and its forms against abuse and fraud
- Preferences — remembering basic settings needed for the service to function
We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not use non-essential analytics or tracking cookies without your consent.
Analytics without cookies
We measure how our public pages are used with GoatCounter, a privacy-focused analytics service. It sets no cookies and stores no identifier on your device, which is why you are not asked to consent to it — there is nothing stored to consent to.
It records the page visited, the referring site, and general details such as browser, screen size and country. It does not build a profile of you or track you across other websites. Our ticket pages and signed-in organiser and admin areas are excluded from analytics altogether. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, we record nothing at all.
Campaign attribution
If you arrive from an advertisement or a campaign link, the address may carry identifiers such as gclid or utm_source. We keep these, with the site that referred you and the page you landed on, in your browser’s session storage for the duration of that visit, so that if you go on to buy a ticket or create an organiser account we can tell which campaign brought you.
No cookie is set to do this. The values are cleared when you close the tab, cannot be read by any other website, and are never used to build a profile of you. If you buy a ticket, they are saved with your order, where the event organiser can see them. If you create an account, the campaign details are stored once against that account as a record of how it was opened, and if you came from a Google advert we send its click identifier back to Google Ads with milestones such as publishing a first event, so we can measure our advertising (see our Privacy Policy). If you do neither, they are simply discarded.
Third-party cookies
Some features rely on trusted third parties who may set their own cookies when you use them — for example our payment processors (SumUp and Stripe) during checkout, our authentication provider when you sign in, Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks forms such as sign-up and contact for bots, and Google Maps when you open a venue map. These are used to deliver the service you requested and are governed by those providers’ own policies.
Managing cookies
Because the cookies we set are essential to operating the platform, disabling them may prevent parts of the service — such as signing in or completing a purchase — from working. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
