What BooTickets charges

A flat 1% of the ticket price. That's it — no setup fee, no monthly fee, the same whichever payment provider you use and whichever currency you sell in.

Your payment provider's fee

Your tickets are paid for through your own Stripe, SumUp or PayPal account, so the money lands with you directly. Each provider charges its own card-processing fee for that — paid straight to them, separately from BooTickets. It's typically around 1.5%–3% and depends on the card and your provider's plan:

We don't add anything to this or take a cut of it — we just want you to see the full picture.

Who pays the BooTickets fee?

You choose, per event:

  • You absorb it — the buyer pays the face value; the fees come out of your takings.
  • The buyer pays it — the BooTickets fee and an estimate of your payment provider's own card fee are shown and added on top at checkout, so there's never a surprise and you keep close to the full face value of the ticket.

Set the default for new events in your account settings, and override it per event.

Example

A £20 ticket sold through Stripe, whose own card fee for a standard UK card is around 1.5% + 20p (about £0.50 on a £20 sale). The BooTickets fee is 1% either way — what changes is who covers these two fees.

If you absorb the feesAmount
Buyer pays£20.00
BooTickets fee (1%)−£0.20
Stripe's card fee−£0.50
You receive~£19.30
If the buyer pays the feesAmount
Buyer pays£20.71
BooTickets fee (1%)−£0.20
Stripe's card fee (estimated)−£0.51
You receive~£20.00

Either way the money settles into your own Stripe account. Because the card fee added at checkout is an estimate, your actual take-home may land a penny or two either side of face value; BooTickets never adds to Stripe's fee or takes a cut of it.

VAT

If you're VAT-registered, BooTickets calculates VAT on its fee based on your venue's country and records it on each order.
