Set up a seating plan
Sell numbered seats from a plan of your venue. Buyers pick their own seats at checkout. You set the plan up once on the venue, then use it for any event there.
1. Create the plan
- Go to Venues, open your venue and choose the Seating plans tab. (Save a new venue first.)
- Give the plan a name, such as Main auditorium, and choose Create plan.
- Open the plan and choose Upload floorplan (PNG/JPEG). A clear, straight-on image of the seating layout works best.
2. Extract the seats
Choose Extract seats. The assistant reads the floorplan and drafts the seats, rows and zones. It can take a moment. Your account has a set number of free AI attempts, and the editor shows how many you have used. If you use them all, choose Submit for free review and our team will complete the plan for you. Very large layouts are over the self-service limit: choose Request large seating arrangement and we'll set it up.
3. Review and edit
The draft is never used until you publish it. Check it against your venue:
- Click a seat to edit it. Right-click the floorplan to add a seat. Rename or renumber rows, and delete stray seats.
- Ask the assistant for bigger changes in plain words, for example "reverse the numbering in every row". You see the result before you choose Apply changes.
- Price bands group seats that cost the same, such as Premium Centre or Balcony. Each zone has a default band, and you can move individual seats into another band. Use Edit zones and Edit price bands to rename them.
4. Publish
Choose Check for issues to look for duplicate or overlapping seats, then Publish — go live. The plan can now be used by events. You can keep editing a live plan: your changes stay private until you choose Publish changes, and seats that are already sold or held can't be lost.
Use it on an event
- In the event's Seating step, choose Reserved seating (instead of General admission), and pick the plan if the venue has more than one.
- Optionally, under Hold seats for this event, hold back seats or whole rows, for guests, production or access. This only affects this event, not the venue's plan.
- In Ticketing, under Ticket types & prices, set a price for each price band. To sell Adult, Child and Concession (say) at different prices, choose + Add ticket type and fill in the grid. Leave a cell blank if that type isn't sold in that band. You can also + Add limit to cap how many of a type can sell, such as a limited number of concessions.
Buyers pick a seat on the map, then a ticket type, up to 10 seats per order.
Good to know
- Not available on seated events: early bird discounts, promo codes, pre-sales and the sold-out waitlist. Reminders for when tickets go on sale still work.
- Prices lock once sold. On a live event you can add ticket types and price new cells, but a price can't change once a ticket has sold at it.
- Held seats can still be sold at the box office. They show in purple there.
- A plan that's in use by an event can't be deleted.
See Ticketing for how seated events fit with your other ticket options.
